“THE Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) may turn out to be the most controversial highway in the country once its toll charges are announced by the Works Ministry soon.
When the 8.1km highway linking Pandan to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) at the Causeway is open to public next month, it is toll-free for those travelling within the city.
But for those who enter the city or return from Singapore, whether they are users or non-users of the highway, they will still be subjected to the same toll rate when they reach the CIQ Complex.
Toll will be collected from all vehicles, except motorcycles, at the complex.
Currently, the toll rate for cars is tagged at RM2.90.
It is learnt that the new rate will be RM6.20.”
Toll chargeable even for non-users
